Bo Ericsson, Cello
Knut Erik Jensen, Piano
Travel with us through the magnificent countries of Scandinavia as we present famous masterpieces inspired by stunning landscapes and folk traditions. From “Peer Gynt,” you’ll hear Edvard Grieg’s exciting “In the Hall of the Mountain King,” as well as his well-known “Morning Mood” portraying the rising of the sun. In addition, we’ll perform Grieg’s most beloved piano concerto featuring his fellow Norwegian, virtuoso Knut Erik Jensen. We’re excited to present the heroic “Finlandia” by Jean Sibelius, celebrating the pride of the Finnish people.
For the first time, the Cape Symphony will perform a work by the Danish composer Carl Neilsen, “Helios Overture,” an orchestral showpiece which also recalls a sunrise – and sunset. At this unique concert, the Cape’s own Bo Ericsson will be featured in Swede Lars-Erik Larsson’s “Concertino for Cello.” These Scandinavian treasures match the timeless beauty of this Northern region, filled with a noble elegance and deeply felt passion.
